“I graduated in 2002 from Hertfordshire University with a post graduate diploma in art therapy. The training is a two year long full time group experiential training and requires that trainees undertake psychotherapy themselves for the duration of the course. After graduating I worked for 5 years as an art therapist as part of an learning disabilities team in Enfield Primary Care Trust.
I also worked during that time for Barnet and Haringey Mental Health trust in a medium secure setting. During that time I worked with a culturally diverse adult client base including asylum seekers. I worked with individuals and groups and set up and ran an art therapy women’s group dealing with amongst other things the emotional impact of having a child removed into care.
In 2009 I moved with my family from London back to Scotland and have been working initially in a voluntary capacity setting up small art therapy provisions in Roxbourgh House Hospice in Dundee and with Dundee City Councils children’s service.
I was thrilled to find my team at TCA and am currently working as a creative therapist with children whilst I complete the process of re-registration with HCPC which will allow me to practice under the title of art therapist again.”
