It’s been a really strong year so far, with 500 visitors to the bus in the 6 month period (01 April – 30 September). It’s the busiest the project has ever been. We’ve changed our strategy slightly and attended events outwith our normal Friday / Saturday – Dundee Dance Event, we were in the City Square when the Olly Murs and Little Mix concerts were taking place and we attended some Fresher’s events at DUSA.
We’ve grown from a team of 5 to 22, with more volunteers currently being recruited. We’ve also purchased a minibus which has increased the scope of the project, this was launched on 01 September and has been involved in 17% of the visitors we’ve had to Dundee Safe Zone since then.
Over the 6 month period, Alcohol Support made up just under 30% of what we do, Drug Support just under 5% and First Aid 9%. The Facebook page has been really successful and we’ve had a table motioned at the Scottish Parliament recognising the work that we do.
