Peer support worker profile: Chris Reid

chrisI started volunteering in the Cairn Centre two days a week because I wanted to give something back to recovery services. While there I applied for a job which came up as a Peer Support Worker and I was really happy when I was successful in getting the job.

I am currently on placement at TCA shadowing the mentors and I am loving the role. It is hands on and I get to interact with young guys who need an extra bit of help in life. It was a good personal achievement when myself and the mentor I was shadowing helped a service user attain a job and get back into full time employment after a period in prison.

I am about to start my SVQ to gain my qualifications as I work. I am looking forward having a career in this field where I can make a difference in peoples lives.
